The reasons for such a result
1. Hindu votes shifted towards LDF since LDF parties are good in combating MUSLIM fundamental forces like NDF.
2. VS Achuthanandan effect in favour of LDF.
3. Some Christian groups preferred LDF since UDF has not considered their people as candidates.
4. UDF has got advantage in some constituencies because of the rift within LDF.
5. BJP continued its poor show mainly due to highly corrupt leaders.
6. Danger signal is there since SDPI, a fundamental organization secured around 2% votes.
